Among the economically weaker section of society the education is provided by the government but in order to perk up their quality they need further training which they can’t afford. Sevabharathi Tamilnadu has found a way out.
On an average, there is one volunteer-teacher for every 25 students. The teachers develop personal rapport with the students by spending quality time with them. This helps the teachers to understand the students’ weaknesses and requirements well, and make them improve in their studies. The teachers also strive to make school dropouts continue their studies. Now it conducts 150 free tuition centers across the state. Nearly 200 qualified volunteers take classes for two hours daily, six days a week. Sevabharathi has plan to augment the number of free tuition centers to serve more number of pupils.
