Sevabharathi Tamilnadu is a movement for Service. It derives inspiration from the profound saying of Swami Vivekananda, ‘Serve Man as the manifestation of God’.
With this fundamental principle of Service in view, Sevabharathi strives to see that every person who is served, raises himself up to stand on his own legs with self esteem shedding his inferiority complex. All Service rendered through Sevabharathi is ultimately aimed at not only eradicating the physical and other deprivations, but also at instilling in every person a sense of Self respect, Self confidence and Self reliance.
Sevabharathi Tamilnadu was formally registered in 1999 as a socio-cultural organisation.
Sevabharathi Tamilnadu’s seva programme is conceived as a wholesome mix of five service dimensions, or ‘Pancha Kaarya’. The five service dimensions are Education, Economic Self Reliance, Health Care, Social Welfare and Disaster Management & Rehabilitation. Through the ‘Pancha Kaarya’, Sevabharathi brings about an all-round development in individuals, families and thereby, our nation.
Over the last 19 years, Sevabharathi Tamilnadu has immensely impacted the lives of less privileged to ensure that the burden of poverty does not dilute the fabric of our culture and tradition in them.
Sevabharathi Tamilnadu is one of the very few voluntary organisations in the state that specialises in undertaking relief and rehabilitation work after major calamities. The role of Sevabharathi Tamilnadu in the relief work undertaken immediately after the 2004 Tsunami and 2015 Chennai Floods came in for all-round appreciation.
